Organized in 2003, after thirteen years of professional practice in Architectural Lighting Design by the two principals, the studio is a multi-disciplinary lighting design firm that offers a fresh approach to establishing innovative lighting solutions for the built environment.

Our philosophy stems from uniting architecture and light. If architecture is the art and science of conceiving form then architectural lighting is the art and science of revealing that form in light. Light directly impacts how we design interior and exterior environments. It influences spatial form and the materials from which they are composed.

Beginning in the planning phase, Lighting Design Studio can define appropriate lighting criteria by identifying issues, establishing methods, and developing budgets and cost controls. In design, we look for images in light that best express the character and style of the project. Texture, contrast, color, integrated detail, ornament, optics and natural light make up our palette. By selectively applying these tools, and studying the project from many perspectives, distinctive lighting solutions can be achieved.

Our experience includes a diverse range of projects including, resort hotels, spas, restaurant, retail, civic centers, exhibit and convention centers, sports facilities, medical centers, residential complexes, educational facilities, campus master planning, corporate headquarters facilities, site lighting projects, museums, and mixed-use developments.

Our services include preparation of preliminary sketches and design reports during the Schematic and Master Planning Phase, preparation of preliminary lighting plans, details, and outlined specifications for budgeting purposes during the Design Development Phase, preparation of final documents and coordination with other consultants during the Construction Document Phase, and final coordination including focusing adjustments and punch list services during Construction Administration.
